Ypsilanti, U-M basketball added as topics on AnnArbor.com

By Tony Dearing

From the day we launched AnnArbor.com, our goal was to continually expand our site and our coverage as we moved forward.

New to our site, as of this week, are a pair of new topics - Ypsilanti and University of Michigan basketball.

These are two areas we've been covering all along, but by making them topics, it's now easier for people to find that coverage.

On our home page, you can use the navigation bar at the top of the page to find our coverage of Ypsilanti and U-M basketball.

I'm particularly happy to be adding the Ypsilanti topic. The city of Ypsilanti and Ypsilanti Township have a special place in my heart from the years I spent leading news coverage of those communities as managing editor of The Ann Arbor News' bureau in downtown Ypsilanti.

Since the launch of AnnArbor.com, our coverage of the Ypsilanti area has appeared in our general News topic, where it was easy to get lost among the other stories. Now, it's in a single thread of stories so anyone interested in Ypsilanti can find them in one spot.

Ypsilanti and U-M basketball now also can be found in the list of topics on the right rail of our home page.

With the Ypsilanti topic page in place, our next step is to add more news and information about the city and township. That will be coming soon, and we'll tell you about it as we add it to the topic.

Meanwhile, we've elevated U-M basketball to the topic level as well.

With the football season underway, our coverage of Michigan football is dominating our sports report. But the basketball season is fast approaching, and, again, we want to make sure people who are interested in U-M hoops can easily find that coverage in one place.

To find these new topics, just go to our home page and use the navigation header at the top of the page, or look for the topics in the right rail. The screen shots included here highlight where you should look for these new topics. Just click on "Ypsilanti'' or "U-M basketball" on the home page and you'll find the coverage you're looking for.
